Melodee Sampson

My interest in Theatre started at my performing arts high school. I participated in Theatre competitions all across New Jersey, theatrical school plays as a performer & a Lighting Board Operator. IATSE Local 59 representatives introduced the YTTW Apprenticeship Program to my senior class. They elaborated on how they would provide us the tools to become professionals in one of the biggest industries in all of entertainment & as a 19 year old inner city kid with a passion for the stage, I couldn’t let the opportunity pass I was enrolled into stage classes and got key certifications through the Union.

 

I’ve managed to be a part of the most amazing events and got to work with prestigious people that were skillful in the field. As I continued to gain experience, my love for lighting increased. I received an opportunity to be a Lighting Operator & Designer for Avenel Performing Arts Center & the rest is history.
